Friday, September 4th

12-5pm Community Room open with Fungus display, foray and workshop registration, and shirts, mushroom art and books for sale

7-10pm Fungus Fair Formal Hotel Alyeska, Kahiltna Court ($75 - Tickets on sale now at the Tram Ticket Office 754-2275) Gourmet Fungal Fare created by Alyeska Resort Executive Chef Micheal Flynn followed by a live auction with items donated by local artists and busineses.  Music by the Hot Club of Nunaka. Dinner sponsored by the Byrne Family with proceeds to benefit the Girdwood Trails Committee.  Don your best funky fungal formal wear!

Saturday, September 5th

9-10:30 am Fun-guy/Fun-gal Fun Run and Spore Sprint 4.6 Miles on the Iditarod Trail.  Registration begins at 8am at Girdwood Elementary. ($15 Registration fee includes t-shirt)

10am-5pm Fungus display, shirts, totes, books and art for sale.

10am  Pre-Foray Talk  with Chris Maack It is strongly encouraged that those planning to participate in any of the forays attend this short presentation on proper collection techniques and safety.

10:30 am - 1pm Forays 3 Groups guided by local mushroom experts will explore various locations in and near Girdwood valley to collect mushrooms for identification, diplay and discussion.

1-3pm Kids Mushroom Art and Fun Glacier City Hall

1-2pm *Talk*  Introduction to Girdwood Area Fungi Kate Mohatt will present a general overview of common and interesting fungi found in the Girdwood area.

2:30 - 3:30pm *Talk* Ecology of Fungi Diane Pleninger will discuss the many ways fungi shape and influence our environment.

4-5pm *Workshop* Investigating Ectomycorrhizal Fungi Kate Mohatt will lead a hands on look into the complex and riveting underground lives of fungi associated with trees.

6-9pm Free Acoustic Concert with Melissa Mitchell and The Photonz at the Hotel Alyeska Courtyard. All ages welcome. Beer + Wine garden and food available for purchase. 

Sunday, Sept. 6th

10am-5pm Fungus Display, shirts, totes, art and books for sale

10am-1pm Forays (2 Groups) See above for description

10am-2pm *Workshop* Oyster Mushroom Cultivation ($15) Ken Gill, President of the South Central Alaska Mycological Society, will indroduce techniques on cultivating this choice edible mushroom using straw bags.  Glacier City Hall. 

2-3pm *Talk* Mushrooms of South Central Alaska Dominique Collet, Vice-President of the S.C. Alaska Mycological Society,  will present his collection of watercolor paintings of S.C AK fungi with information on how to identify many common genera and species. 

4:30-5:30 *Talk* Why Mushrooms Matter Dr. Steve Trudell of the University of Washington will discuss the importance of fungi to the planet.

Monday, Sept. 7th

10am- 3pm *Workshop* Mushroom Identification ($10)  Dr. Steve Trudell of the University of Washington and co-author of "Mushrooms of the Pacific Northwest" will describe techniques used for mushroom identification, including the use of dichotomous keys, mushroom identification software (Matchmaker), and describing mushrooms followed by an ID session with either display specimens or foray collections.  This workshop may include a foray.
