2022 Girdwood Fungus Fair Schedule of Events

Friday, Sept. 2nd

7-8pm *Virtual Mushroom ID Roundtable*(FREE) Join Noah Siegel, Kate Mohatt, Shannon Adams, and Steve Trudell for a virtual mushroom identification and discussion roundtable. Register in advance through the Campbell Creek Science Center and upload your mushroom observations to iNaturalist for ID!


Saturday, Sept. 3th


9:30am-5 pm Mushroom display at the Girdwood Community Room, books and t-shirts for sale.


10am, 10:30am, 11am, 11:30 *Forays* ($20) Guided mushroom walks with mycologists. Groups meet outside community room 15 min. prior, limited to first 15 to register online in advance through Four Valleys Community Schools. Foray leaders:  Steve Trudell (10am), Shannon Adams (10:30am), Noah Siegel (11am), Joe Zapotosky (11:30am)  


10am-1pm, *Demo* Mushrooms to Dye With ($40) Dye 2 silk scarves with pigments derived purely from wild harvested mushrooms and lichens with Teresa Paquet. Register online in advance Four Valleys Community Schools.

 

12:30-2:30pm *Photo Foray* ($20) Mobile phone mushroom photography workshop. Bruce Welkovich. Register online in advance through Four Valleys Community Schools.


2:30-4:30pm *Workshop* ($35) The owners of Far North Fungi will be offering a make your own home cultivation kits. Register in advance through Four Valleys Community Schools 


1:30-2:30pm *Talk* Why Mushrooms Matter. Steve Trudell.

2:30-3:30pm *Talk* From Saucepan to Science: Taking the Next Step in your Fungal Adventure. Shannon Adam

3:30-4:30pm *Talk* To Live and Dye For: Edible and Dye Mushrooms of Alaska. Noah Siegel

3:30- 5:00 pm *Kids Foray open to ages 5-14* ($15) Foray led by our local junior mycologist Gabriel Wingard; Groups meet outside community room 15 min. prior, limited to first 10 to register online in advance through Four Valleys Community Schools. An adult chaperone must be present.


6-8pm *Five Course Fungus Feast* ($120) Spoonline Bistro. Advanced reservations required.
